Adam’s Venture: Origins is a remake of the game Adam’s Venture Trilogy originally released as three episodes.
This new version has new gameplay, puzzles, updated graphics, and a story reworked in a chronological manner. The game is split into roughly 20 chapters, each with about 15 to 20 minutes of gameplay, which once unlocked can be accessed and replayed from the main menu.
Adam can do basic moves such as walking, running or jumping, but they are mostly aesthetic as jumping does not let him jump over obstacles and it can only be used to reach specifically marked higher grounds or to climb certain elevated steps. Not being a man of violence, but rather of an adventurous spirit, Adam only carries a torch and a grappling hook on his expeditions. The torch can be used to help him navigate through dark areas or to burn spiderwebs and create new passages.
Adam does not carry a lighter or a set of matches, so the player needs to locate fires to reignite the torch. The grappling hook can be used to traverse ziplines, pry open bridges, or swing across the chasms. The game is heavily puzzle-oriented with very little emphasis on exploration which is only used to connect one puzzle to the next one.
There are no artifacts or collectible items Adam can find on his journey, although certain puzzles may require him to find a missing lever or other object needed to activate some mechanism or solve puzzles.
